Weekend

Over the weekend we took a visit to IKEA and spent far too much money purchasing nursery items for Jude's rather boring room--including some beautiful frames to hang up all the prints Adam's designed just for Jude. Finally.
I get a little out of control at IKEA, let alone buying things for the little man, and haven't felt that alive since the water tubing incidence of '06.
Word to the wise: unless you want to laugh hard enough to break a rib, don't flop onto a one-person tube with a muscle-packed little sister riding on your back--with a lunatic of a father manning the vessel.
Anyway, night shifts have taken my sanity, so please excuse me while I grab a wooden spoon and a carton of Breyer's.
Au revoir.

Baby Boy Blue

Are you as obsessed with those BLUE jeans as I am? I'm dying. Best $9 at H&M I've ever spent. EVER.
I think we'll get Adam a pair of mustard ones and be that weird family that thinks something like that would be cool.
Cheers.

Hey Guys

Sending you peace and love on this beautiful Thursday.
All you need is love.
And Jude says "hey." Hey Jude.

Crepes with supermodels

I've been neglectful because, surprise, surprise, I've been working.
Psht moneys buy more clothes--or pay off more bills. And since all I've been doing is giving shots and talking down sundowners, I'll share what we did over a week ago we some darling, darling friends from Vancouver. Say hello to Loral and Matt.
Loral's a supermodel. Matt is her awesome husband. These friends of ours travel a lot--like two weeks every month a lot--but we finally got them to meet us in Portland for some fantastic crepes. Thanks, guys! We need to do this again!
p.s. Tomorrow is Fastnacht Day. If you don't know what that is, Google it.
Otherwise, just a friendly reminder to stuff your face with donuts :)

It's Over

Dear Red Velvet,

I see you over there.
Staring at me, with what's left of you after Valentine's Day, glittery in that shiny glass trifle dish--you're like a gem just waiting to be picked up and loved.
Say it: you want me.
And I want you.
But listen, you're no good for me. Last night I stood in a pitiful, self-loathing shower after meeting the two new friends who have taken residence on my woman hips.
Their names are Love Handle 1 and Love Handle 2.
And they're mean to me.
And although you've always been good to me, Red Velvet--making finishing dinner that much more exciting and filling my soul with sheer buttery bliss--you did this to me.
And for that, I can't. I just can't
I'll save you for husband.

Woefully,
Britney

Sweet Valentines

This year, I've got two valentines to spend my day with :). Tonight, we enjoyed some delicious sugar cookies decorated with sweet icing and sugary sprinkles. I ate 5 of them. Jude had 2--and was off. the. wall. for about 20 minutes before bedtime. Wow, Jude. You just took screaming dada to a whole new level. Annnnd soon afterward I fell off the kitchen chair, rolled myself onto the couch, cracked open a textbook about cancer, and inhaled half-a-bag of Trader Joe's Pirate's Booty. That stuff's just air, right?
p.s. Have an extra sexy Valentine's day, loves!

Letter from your best friend

Dear Jude,

You and mommy make a cute couple. I love watching you two play together and dress up in your Sunday best. I can't image my life without you two and I'm thankful for the love you bring into my life. Be good to your mother because she does so much for you. She always thinks of you first.

Keep that chunky smile going and give your mom and I lots of kisses. I can't wait to take you to get your first Lego set together, watch Looney Tunes while eating cereal, and play soccer together on Saturday mornings.

I love you,
Daddy

Not too much

Not too much going on over here this week.
Jude and I have been getting over some sniffles and last night's dinner was a celebration of it being the first time I cooked this week. We can get by on scrambled eggs, tortilla chips and ice cream every night, can't we?
Last night was also the night that Adam finally heeded my week-long call to get me gummy bears at 9pm. You would have thought that by the third night in a row I would have realized, "Ok, I'm in the grocery store at one in the afternoon. I should probably get those things for tonight." Needless to say, he's fantastic. And I almost ate the whole bag. Don't be scared, little gummies. I have a new home for you...

New Hairs

I know. It happened.
Bangs!

I'm in love.
I feel like Zooey Dechanel in 500 Days of Summer..and every other thing she's recently been in. Which will most likely make me feel adorkable on a daily basis. *gasp* I think my faux, hipster glasses days just might need to be over!
p.s. by the end of it all, there was a small dog on the floor. I felt a little guilty for not donating it--or at least using it to prevent weeds from growing in someone's garden. Anyways..what do you think?!
p.s.s. All thanks to my bff, Natalie, for the new tresses.

BFFS

Our BFFS are in town.
Basically, that means we've been spending inordinate amounts of money, inhaling way too much fried food and white sugar, and staying up into the wee-hours of the night watching The Lord of the Rings and The Colbert Report.
This has been the ultimate slumber party. They are never leaving.
Today? We went to IKEA--hence the culprit of our empty wallets.
And I also found it imperative to look as creepy as possible.
It's who I am.

Just beautiful, isn't she?

I bought these glass bottles at IKEA for like 75 cents each--genius--and found some lovely fake plants with petals that resembled hearts in honor of the impending holiday. Inspiration? Who else but my good friend Haley?--who executed it waaaay better than me :-P. Kind of mad for showing you all. You can probably just assume that any DIY project I dare to attempt comes from her. Zero creative skills from the nurse over here. Thanks, Haley :)
